The Pocket Libraries
There were two comic libraries released during Buster's
40 year run. Between 1966 and 1967 there was the Adventure Library and from 1984 to
1985 there was the Comic Libary.
There were 36 issues of the Adventure Libary in total and although I've yet to see a
copy, I would assume it's similar to the Book of Thrills, maybe some of the best
adventure strips running from Buster. If you can provide more information about the
Adventure Libary, please e-mail Webmaster@bustercomic.co.uk
The Comic Libraries were issued on the first Monday of each month between September
1984 & November 1985. There were thirty issues in total, however issue 29 was not
released (I don't know why).
The Comic Libaries consisted of a handful of characters
from Buster. In the first few editions Ivor Lott & Tony Broke, X Ray Specs,
Faceache and Chalky all appear. By issue 13 Rent-A-Ghost had joined in the fun and
for Issue 15 Buster's Dreamworld was being re-run. These were obviously proving to be
successful for Fleetway, as midway through Buster's Library, Whizzer & Chips
released their own separate libraries. These had a greater variety of characters
(nine in Whizzer Issue 1) as opposed to Buster who stuck to five or six.
